Employees at the State Ultra Lounge are praising the Providence Police Department for its prompt handling of an armed robbery that took place early Sunday morning.

The police arrested four suspects Tuesday after determining that it was an inside job orchestrated by an employee of the club. 24-year-old Amaury Rodriguez originally claimed he was outside the club around 3:00 a.m. when two gun men forced him back inside to commit the robbery.

But detectives are saying Rodriguez and his friend, 29-year-old Robert Martin, actually planned the entire heist. Martin and another suspect, Christopher West, were the alleged gunman while another Darrell Haney was the getaway driver.

“On behalf of the staff and management of State Ultra Lounge, we would like to commend the Providence Police Department particularly Captain [James]Desmarais and Major [Thomas]Oates,” Tomasso said. “Their attention to detail brought a swift conclusion to an unfortunate incident.  We are all glad that this is now fully behind us.”
