NEW: Providence Parking Ban Begins at Noon, Mall Closing

Providence Mayor Taveras has just announced that the city will impose a parking ban beginning today at noon.

"Parking ban starts @ noon in PVD and will remain in effect until further notice. Towing will be enforced 2day. #PVDsnow," Taveras tweeted moments ago.

In addition, the Providence Place Mall issued the following statement regarding its plans this afternoon:

"Due to severe weather conditions, Providence Place will close at Noon today, Friday Feb. 8th. Please continue to check back for updated delay / closure information regarding Saturday, Feb. 9th.

Nordstrom and JCPenney will close at Noon today, Friday Feb. 8th. Please call Macy's directly for store hours and updated closing information. Please call ahead for store hours and closing information for Restaurants, Cinema, IMAX, Dave & Buster's as their hours may be different."

The Warwick Mall will also be closing as of 3 p.m. today.
