The Portuguese Americans for Doherty Coalition will host a rally tonight at 5:30pm in support of the Doherty for Congress Campaign. The rally will feature U.S. Representative Devin Nunes, from California's 21st Congressional District. Congressman Nunes is one of three Portuguese Americans to serve in the US Congress.

The Portuguese Americans for Doherty Coalition is chaired by Alice Duarte and Manny Martins and includes members of the Portuguese American community from throughout Rhode Island. Congressman Nunes will be the special guest at a free Doherty for Congress rally in Central Falls to be hosted by the Coalition.

Congressman Nunes is a member of the House Budget Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and previously has served on the Resources, Agriculture, and Veterans Affairs committees. He has offered legislation to promote the development of energy resources in the United States and to support the rapid development of market-based alternative energy resources. He was named by Time Magazine as a rising political star on its “40 Under 40” list.
