NEW: Police Officer Killed in Crash to be Promoted Posthumously

The Providence Police Officer killed in a car crash this morning will be promoted posthumously to Sergeant, the PPD has announced.
Maxwell Dorley, a well-liked 15-year veteran, died after his patrol car hit telephone pole near Admiral Street.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Dorley family today, including Officer Dorley’s brothers and sisters on the Providence Police Force,” Mayor Angel Taveras wrote on his Facebook page.
