NEW: Paiva Weed Backs Civil Unions

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed renewed her support of civil unions today, in a statement issued after House Speaker Gordon Fox said he would back civil unions, instead of gay marriage.

“I have consistently stated that I support civil unions. I have spoken with Speaker Fox on this issue, and I appreciate the courage and passion which he has demonstrated throughout this debate.
