NEW: Open Providence Commission to Hold Public Session

The Open Providence Commission for Transparency and Accountability will hold a public session Monday evening to allow residents to identify needs of the community and share their concerns with accessibility of information within the city.

The event will takes place from 6 to 8 pm at the Chace Center of the Rhode Island School of Design, 20 North Main Street.

The Commission, composed of members of the public from throughout the City as well as key City staff members, has been meeting regularly to examine the openness of Providence city government functions and information, and identify best practices from other municipalities for opening up city government to its citizens.

Specifically the Commission will be taking comment on:

1) Ways to make public information, including hearings, votes, and other information available on the City’s website;

2) How technology can be used to improve responsiveness to constituents; and

3) Develop a plan for implementing suggested changes.
