NEW: Ocean State Action Says New Tea Party Group Stole Its Name

Progressive activist organization Ocean State Action is claiming the new Tea Party group stole its name.

In a witty fundraising e-mail sent out today, Ocean State Action said it was flattered Ocean State Tea Party in Action chose to use its name.

"The RI Tea Party launched a new group this morning, the Ocean State Tea Party in Action," the e-mail said. "We’re flattered that the RI Tea Party likes us so much that they would stick their name in the middle of ours. Who knew that they wanted to be us when they grew up?

We thought about calling the press. We thought about calling a lawyer for name infringement.

But the most important place to beat the Tea Party is at the ballot box in 2012."

In the e-mail, Executive Director Kate Brock called on Rhode Islanders to "stand up for working families, civil rights for all, and health care for all Rhode Islanders by becoming a Victory Campaign Progressive Patriot with a monthly donation of $20.12."

"We can stop the Tea Party in their tracks and rebuild the American Dream in Rhode Island, but only with YOUR help," the message stated. "Your support today will allow us to grow our campaign training programs, and build our war chest for the 2012 elections!"
