NEW: Mollis to Launch Mobile Voter ID Units Tuesday
Monday, February 06, 2012
Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis will kick-off a statewide campaign to implement the state's new Voter ID law with a visit to the East Providence Senior Center Tuesday at 11:45 a.m.
It will mark the first stop for the Secretary of State's new mobile voter ID units, which will also visit the St. Martin de Porres Senior Center in Providence on Tuesday. Mollis will announce the schedule of mobile unit visits and tell voters what they need to do to obtain a free Voter ID.
Voters who attend the kick will be among the first to receive the new state-issued Voter IDs.
Signed into law last year, Voter ID requires poll workers to ask voters to show an ID when they vote at the polls. The first test of the new law will be the state's April 24 presidential primary.
