UPDATE: Majority Leader Ruggerio Arrested for DUI

Senate Majority Leader Dominick Ruggerio was arrested early Wednesday morning by Barrington Police on DUI charges, according to a local radio station.
Ruggerio, who works for the Laborers International Union of North America, is considered one of the most powerful politicians in the state.
This is not the first run-in with the law. In 1990, he was arrested for stealing condoms from a drugstore.

“Last evening the vehicle I was driving in Barrington was pulled over by the Barrington Police. I declined a breathalyzer test.
“I accept full responsibility for my actions last evening and regret how this may impact my family, my constituents, my colleagues and the Senate. I look forward to resolving this matter and continuing to serve my constituents as vigorously as I have for the past 32 years.”
