Monday, May 23, 2016
Religious and community leaders gathered at the Congregation Ohawe Shalam in Pawtucket Monday morning to condemn the anti-semitic vandalism at the Jewish center over the weekend.
On Sunday May 22, a swastika, a symbol of hate and anti-Semitism, was painted on the Kollel Center for Jewish Studies sign. According to the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, there have been similar acts of anti-Semitism over the last two years throughout the state.
Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien was joined by other leaders condemning the actions on Monday, including Rabbi Raphie Schochet of Kollel, President David Pliskin of Congregation Ohawe Shalam, and President and CEO Jeffrey Savit of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island
