Mollis’ offices will also provide free photo IDs to voters who do not already have one. In order to obtain a Voter ID, voters must show proof of identity such as a Social Security card, credit or debit card, utility bill or government-issued document. The full list of acceptable proof of identity is posted at http://sos.ri.gov/elections/voterid/card/.

The Voter ID, which includes a color photo of the voter and the voter's full name as it appears in the state's voter registration database, will be created on the spot.

Poll workers will ask voters to show a valid ID when they go to the polls. A wide range of common IDs including a R.I. driver's license, U.S. passport, college ID, RIPTA bus pass and Social Security card will be accepted. The full list of acceptable IDs is posted at http://sos.ri.gov/elections/voterid/. Voters who already have one of the IDs on the list are all set for Tuesday. They will not need a Voter ID from us.

Voters should bring ID to the polls on Tuesday and be prepared for poll workers to ask them to show it.

No eligible voter will be denied the right to vote. Voters who do not bring an acceptable ID to the polls can vote using a standard Provisional Ballot. If the signature they give at their polling place matches the signature on their voter registration, their ballot will be counted.

For more info about Voter ID, visit http://sos.ri.gov/elections/voterid/ or call us at 222-2340.
