You ready to howl?

Set your sights (and sites) on the horizon tonight at sunset, as the largest full moon in 18 years crests Rhode Island's horizons.

That translates into appearing 14% larger and 30% brighter, according to astronomers.

This is a "perigee" event: when the moon reaches the closest spot in its elliptical orbit around Earth. In other words, this is as close as it gets. It's a moon worth watching.

Rhode Island's favorite observatories, Drew and Brown's Ladd, are not open tonight, so pick your favorite spot and set your eyes on that enormous orb rising tonight.
