Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) will host Rhode Island farmers and others interested in agricultural issues impacting the state at a public forum on Monday November 28, 2011. The event is scheduled for 1pm at the Warwick Public Library. Topics of discussion will cover the country’s farm and food policies, including the specialty crop, nutrition and conservation programs that are part of the Farm Bill.

“I am pleased to see an increase in the number of farms in Rhode Island,” said Langevin. “The success of our farming community is integral to Rhode Island’s short and long-term prosperity and we cannot revitalize our economy without understanding their needs and concerns. We also know that, particularly in a time of great fiscal constraints, we must have more efficient policies to most effectively provide safe and healthy food in our state and throughout the nation. I look forward to benefiting from the input offered in our discussion.”
