NEW: Langevin Recognizes RI Principal of the Year from Chariho

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) recognized Gregory Zenion of Chariho Regional Middle School, winner of a 2012 Rhode Island Principal of the Year award, in Washington Thursday. Meeting in Langevin’s office, they discussed national education policy and ways to better ensure students receive the skills they need to be college- and career-ready. Zenion was honored through the MetLife/NASSP National Principal of the Year award program. In the attached photo, Langevin is pictured with Zenion and his wife Amy.

“Principal Zenion has demonstrated a phenomenal commitment to preparing our youth to succeed,” said Langevin, who co-chairs the bipartisan Career and Technical Education Caucus. “He is clearly a deserving recipient of this award. We had a wonderful discussion about giving all students a fair opportunity, and I appreciate his valuable input.”
