The Barry Hinckley for US Senate campaign today released a web video spoof highlighting Sheldon Whitehouse's disconnect with average voters in light of the stark economic realities Rhode Islanders face every day. The one minute video, which appears on YouTube, features a giddy Senator Whitehouse cheering after a series of dismal Rhode Island economic indicators is displayed.
Hinckley is also the first candidate to make a media buy in Rhode Island this year. He did so with GoLocalProv.
"While the spot pokes fun at Senator Whitehouse's voting record, the economic reality in Rhode Island is no laughing matter," said John Loughlin, Executive Director of the Barry Hinckley campaign. "Sheldon's voting record is simply baffling for a Senator who is supposed to be representing the state with the third highest jobless rate in the country. We chose to illustrate this in a series of amusing vignettes. Sheldon certainly seems to be having fun in the Senate; it's only fitting that Rhode Islanders should have a little good-natured fun at his expense," Loughlin continued.

- In favor of bailing out Wall Street
- In favor of the failed $787 billion stimulus program
- In favor of Obamacare
- Against regulations on irresponsible Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
Said Loughlin, "Sometimes laughter is the best medicine. While the video is humorous, it is packed with the issues that Rhode Island voters will be considering when they go to the polls this November. This the first in a series of videos the Hinckley campaign will be releasing to highlight Senator Whitehouse's voting record - in a light hearted and educational way.
