NEW: Higher Ed Nominees Go to Full Senate

The state Senate this week came closer to approving all of Governor Lincoln Chafee's nominees for the Board of Regents and the Board of Governors for Higher Education.
• The Senate Education Committee last night recommended the following appointments to the Board of Governors for Higher Education:
o Lorne Adrain
o Joan Abrams
o Amy Beretta
o William Maaia
o Jane Sherman
o Michael Tikoian
o John Walsh
o Tessa Constant
• The full senate has approved Dr. Robert Carothers’ appointment to the Board of Regents for Elementary & Secondary Education.
• Dr. Antonio Barajas, Eva-Marie Mancuso, and Joseph White, three other appointees to the Board of Governors, were unable to attend the hearing last, however, there will be a hearing scheduled for them at a later date.
