NEW: GOP Accuses Raimondo of Pay-for-Play

Thursday, August 09, 2012

Republican Chairman Mark Zaccaria released a statement today regarding Rhode Island State Treasurer Gina Raimondo and her involvement in awarding state contracts to campaign donors.

The story first appeared on GoLocalProv.

"State Treasurer Raimondo should immediately give back all campaign donations received from donors connected with any firm to which she has awarded lucrative state contracts,” Zacarria said. “It clearly is a case of ‘pay-to-play’ and Rhode Islanders have had enough of this behavior from elected officials.

"It is no wonder why researchers at the United States Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG) gave Rhode Island a D- for transparency earlier this year. We continually see this behavior in our state and it must end before we can hope to have a government that measures up to what the hard working, tax paying men and women of Rhode Island deserve.”

Politics as Usual! Taking away future promised monies from retirees but taking care of business. What happened to the unfunded pension? How about we fund the pension and return the money to workers who kept their promise only to be denied what is rightfully theirs!

Would the people that publish this crud please follow up with the names of people that didn't get state contracts. zaccaria should stay out of this one. It has no legs. Reasonable people can see this is a non story. Only the bitter unions have a problem with this.
