NEW: Gemma Steps Down From Mediapeel; Congressional Run Likely
Thursday, March 15, 2012
Anthony Gemma has taken a leave of absence from his position as chief executive officer (CEO) at Mediapeel, the organization confirmed in a press release this morning.
Gemma is widely expected to challenge Congressman David Cicilline in a Democratic primary, but has yet to officially throw his hat into the ring. That announcement is now expected to be made in April.
Gemma finished second in a four-way primary in 2010 and has been weighing a rematch with Cicilline since last year. He recently sold Mediapeel to Alex and Ani, which was viewed as the first step in his quest to run for Congress.
