NEW: Former Pawtucket Youth Football Coach to Serve 25 Years for Child Molestation

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced that Curtis Rogers (DOB: 3/15/74), with a last known address of 96 Franklin Street, Meridan, CT, pled guilty on Tuesday before Superior Court Associate Justice Netti C. Vogel to multiple counts of child molestation and sexual assault. His wife, Crystal Rogers (DOB: 10/13/81), of the same address, pled guilty to three counts of third degree sexual assault.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Curtis Rogers was sentenced to a total of 50 years, with 25 to serve. Crystal Rogers was sentenced to five years with one to serve. Both must comply with the sexual offender registration requirements, including registering as sex offenders and undergo sexual offender counseling.
Had the case proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove that Curtis Rogers earned the trust of his victims, five boys and two girls, between the ages of 13 and 17, through his involvement as the head coach of the Pawtucket Crusaders football team and later with his involvement with a judo club in Coventry.
He abused that trust and engaged in sexual relations with the victims on multiple occasions over the course of more than 2 years. During the same time, Crystal Rogers engaged in sexual relations with three boys 14 to 16 years of age.
“Curtis and Crystal Rogers preyed on young adults who looked to them as two people who cared about their well being and who would help them achieve a better life. Instead, Curtis and Crystal Rogers violated that trust in the worst possible manner. They are sexual predators, who masked themselves as upstanding, caring community leaders,” said Attorney General Kilmartin.
Curtis Rogers has been held without bail since his arrest in June, 2011. Crystal Rogers was ordered to turn herself in to the Adult Correctional Institute on September 10, 2012 for the execution of her sentence.
Rhode Island State Police Detective John Alfred led the investigation. Assistant Attorney General Daniel Carr Guglielmo, chief of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit, prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General.
