This rehabilitation project is just a piece of a larger $1.5 million undertaking that involves developments to Peckham Road and Long Highway, which will begin after the bridge work is complete. Specifically, the Nannaquaket Bridge will be undergoing repairs on the sidewalk and deck, which makes it absolutely necessary to close the bridge off completely.

“We apologize for any inconveniences this closure may cause,” RIDOT Director Michael P. Lewis said. “We will make every effort to reopen the bridge as quickly as possible.”

RIDOT advises drivers to take the following detour routes for this road closure:

From Nannaquaket Road: Follow Nannaquaket Road south to Main Road and turn left onto Main Road

From Main Road: Follow Main Road south and turn right onto Nannaquaket Road

Maps and turn-by-turn directions also are available at RIDOT’s website at www.dot.ri.gov/travelri/detourmaps.asp.

Motorists with questions can contact RIDOT’s Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional information will be available on RIDOT’s website (www.dot.ri.gov) and its social media sites on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Blogger.
