NEW: Doherty Rips Cicilline for Sponsoring Legislation to Bail Out Detroit

Monday, October 15, 2012

Republican Congressional candidate Brendan Doherty is criticizing Congressman David Cicilline for co-sponsoring legislation to provide a federal bailout of Detroit (and later taking his name off the bill), but doing little to address financial problems in Rhode Island communities.

The Doherty campaign says the legislation sponsored by Cicilline would provide an estimated $10 billion for infrastructure, pay for public safety, and support education in the city of Detroit.

“After steering the City of Providence directly into a ‘Category 5 hurricane’ with his fiscal mismanagement and cover-ups, Congressman Cicilline’s support for a federal bailout of Detroit is a slap in the face to every hard working family in Rhode Island,” said Robert Coupe, the campaign’s political director. “One can only wonder what motivated a congressman from Rhode Island to support a federal bailout for the city of Detroit, while at the very same time Rhode Island’s capital city was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.”

Eric Hyers, let me guess - Doherty's criticism is "desperate, tired, radical, and anti-choice"? wink

No one cares Doherty.

They will care if they think that the alledgations of inappropriate contact w/children in the DR are true, likely,in my opinion.

That's his way of bringing jobs back to RI. Oh wait, Detroit isn't in RI. Someone should give Davey Boy a map.
