NEW: Dems Rip Doherty’s ‘Hypocrisy’ on Bain Capital
Thursday, July 19, 2012

“If Rhode Islanders are wondering how Brendan Doherty would represent them in Washington, they should look no further than his embrace of Mitt Romney and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,” said Bill Fischer, Democratic Party spokesperson. “The Doherty campaign’s audacity to criticize Congressman Cicilline over individual campaign contributions while endorsing the president of Bain Capital is the absolute height of hypocrisy and quite frankly defies logic. Unless he’s reconsidering his support of Mr. Romney.”
Fischer continued: “Mr. Doherty likes to couch himself as a bipartisan candidate, but the reality is quite the opposite. He has gladly endorsed Mitt Romney, who is responsible for the outsourcing of thousands of American jobs while at the helm of Bain Capital. In addition, he has the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has pumped over a quarter of a million dollars into campaign commercials to support his candidacy.”

Is there something wrong with the US Chamber of Commerce all of a sudden? Or is it just that they have decided to support candidates who actually believe in the free enterprise system, you know the one that actually creates jobs for people. But then, no worries, we're doing just fine here in RI, so who needs companies to come in, make investments and build plants and then hire workers to produce goods and/or services. Nah, things are just great, just ask the 8.2& of RI's (not counting those no longer eligible for unemployment) who are looking for a job to support their family.

Brendan Doherty and David Cicilline ... peas in a pod.
Let them argue over who deserves the "Most Corrupt, Dishonorable Candidate in Rhode Island's 2012 Elections" award.
They'll just end up sharing it.
Meanwhile, Anthony Gemma continues to display the personal honesty and professional competence that represent change for the better not just for Rhode Island, but for all of America.
David Cicilline and Brendan Doherty -- peas in a pod.

The Democrats have been in charge in both our legislature and hold the 4 seats in Washington. Where has it gotten us? DEAD LAST for business! We are getting destroyed from within. They all need to go!

I agree with guy smily. This is a sorry response. Oooh, Doherty is being supported by... the Chamber of Commerce!! And in a state with high unemployment and a lack of jobs, that is supposed to be a bad thing?
A hypocrite is someone who acts contrary to their stated beliefs. Last time I checked, Doherty wasn't criticizing Bain Capital. But Cicilline hammers Romney because he once led Bain, but is now collecting campaign cash from Romney successor? That's hypocrisy.
Cicilline better start doing something about his Titanic-like campaign. It's like the ship hit the iceberg, went into reverse and then hits the iceberg again thinking there will be a different result.

Love your Titanic analogy Todd! I'd go even further and say that this state is like the titanic....we keep hitting an iceberg every time the voters re-elect all of these crooked Dems back into office, and then a couple years later, we have a chance to patch up the damage and change direction, and the voters vote to drive our state right back into the iceberg harder and faster by electing them (and adding some even more clueless/progressive Dems) back in again and again and again...aren't we all sick and tired of these so-called elected leaders making us into a total economic failure as a state? Our standards are way too low for our elected leaders in this state and have been for quite some time.
We need change desperately, and not any change that has "liberal" or "progressive" associated with it.

Unless everyone in RI is out to lunch and totally brain dead as in not remembering what Sissylinnee and the rest of the Donkey club have done to RI there should be flood of support for Doherty.
There can be no reason to elect a Democrat in RI ever again, look at the mess we are in.
