Wednesday, January 18, 2012
The three most powerful women in Rhode Island politics will partner with the state Democratic Party to encourage more women to run for office next Monday at an event at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.
General Treasurer Gina Raimondo, Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Roberts and Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed will each speak at the "women for women" event, according to Stephanie DeSilva, the Executive Director of the Democratic Party.
"All three women are going to speak and talk about why they ran for office, what keeps them focused on what they're focused on and why it's important to encourage more women to run for office," DeSilva said.
