NEW: Democratic Leader Rips Gemma Over Voter Fraud Allegations
Thursday, August 23, 2012

A day after Gemma accused Cicilline of being connected to payoffs, bussing in people from out-of-state to vote and finding ways for deceased people to vote, Katrina Therien released the following statement:
"Anthony Gemma's allegations are outrageous, reckless, and irresponsible. He failed spectacularly in his desperate press conference gimmick to produce any evidence whatsoever that David Cicilline has committed criminal actons. When Anthony told my organization this spring that he would not vote for the Democratic nominee for Congress unless it was himself, we were shocked. When he orginally refused to support Senator Whitehouse, we couldn't believe it. Now this? It is increasingly clear that Anthony Gemma is running because of his own ego, and his only objective is to smear and defeat David Cicilline. He does not at all believe in the ideals of the Democratic Party."

Katrina Therien and Ed Pacheco should be working to clean their party up of corruption. After all, David Cicilline rigged the redistricting process and lied to the taxpayers of Providence. Gemma may not be handling this properly but at least he has the stones to go up against the corruption while the party leaders embrace it! So you attack the man instead of the problem? This corruption has gone on for decades to deny it is pure ignorance. It is extremely clear now more than ever, the Democrat Party is the corruption party! May you all lose in November! You have already killed our state!

The Democratic Party's ideals are corruption, bribery, kickbacks, fraud, class warfare, elitism, hypocrisy, and divisiveness. Whitehouse is an elitist fraud and a sellout to Hollywood (and an inside trader), Cicilline is a liar and a crook, Langevin has yet to do anything useful, and Reed continues to rake in money (just like Sheldon) from the same special interests they claim they're fighting against. They all need to go. They're the party that has destroyed this state.

I agree with Rhonda, Let me add that many of the once "Reagan Democrats" will take a long hard look at why they should remain Democrats. Look for many to break with family tradition and join the Republican party. They now know for certain that progress will not come from the progressive (Democrat) party. Why is the state in the shape it is in? 75 years of democreat rule. For the sake of their children and grandchildren, the ties to the dems will be cut. Get ready for a new political term, "Romney Democrats".

Wow! It's becoming fairly clear that Gemma's supporters won't vote for Cicilline if he wins and Cicilline's supporters won't vote for Gemma if he wins.
It makes no sense for Doherty to debate either of them. He just needs to hold onto his base of Republicans, independents and growing number of moderate Democrats while not doing anything to offend the losing Democrat's supporters.
@Russ: I agree that Whitehouse is an elitist fraud who attempts to appeal to blue collar Rhode Islanders even though he may not believe half of what he says. You're also right that Cicilline is a liar.
But I do think Jack Reed honestly believes in the positions he takes (even though he does take money from Goldman Sachs). And Langevin may not be a power player in Congress, he has at least shown leadership on cyber issues.
