Monday, October 31, 2011
The government-funded nonprofit organization that works with low income Providence residents on a variety of issues including affordable housing, clinical counseling and case management laid off eight workers Friday, sources tell GoLocalProv.
The layoffs come ahead of a report that is expected to reveal irregularities in management policies later this week.
The Providence Community Action Program (ProCAP), a landing ground for numerous politically-connected individuals, is currently undergoing two reviews; one being the annual audit conducted by the state and the other, an independent assessment by former Providence Democratic party chairman Ken Richardson.
