NEW: Cicilline Rips ‘Lack of Leadership’ From Republicans
Friday, September 21, 2012
With Congress beginning recess on the earliest date since 1960, U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) spoke on the House floor and joined colleagues for a press conference urging the Republican leadership to remain in session until more challenges are addressed.

“I am really disappointed with the failure of Republican leadership in the House. More than 50,000 Rhode Island home mortgages are underwater today and nearly 60,000 people still cannot find work,” said Cicilline. “Rhode Islanders and families across our country expect more from their elected officials and I urge Speaker Boehner to reconsider his decision and commit to working with Democrats to address the urgent challenges facing our country.”
Following his remarks on the House floor, Cicilline joined Congressional Democrats at 10:30 AM for a press conference on the steps of Capitol where they again urged the Republican leadership not to adjourn until November. Given the current calendar, the 112th Congress will hold only eight days of votes from August 3, 2012 through November 13, 2012.
Political observers have criticized House Republicans for playing politics at a time when working families can least afford it. According to an article in Roll Call, the current Congress is on pace to be the least productive in modern history – even lagging behind the “Do Nothing Congress” of 1948 – while Congressional approval ratings continue to slide to their lowest levels on record.

To make the statement that he “urges Speaker Boehner to reconsider his decision and commit to working with Democrats to address the urgent challenges facing our country is pretty baseless. How about his buddy Senator Reid, who continues to sit on his hands in the Senate and block bills passed by the House. Both parties are equally guilty of the gridlock and perhaps the American people need to house clean the place. Cicilline campaigned on getting jobs to RI but as a member of the minority party in the House, he is pretty useless. His party is also running one of the most corrupt and lawless administrations on record in the White House. What impact Davey boy will have on Obama was evident with his campaign fund raiser when the President had to duck out and go back to Washington to let his dog out. The Democratic Party has contributed to bankrupting this country and Rhode Island. It is high time the people wake up and start tossing out these incumbents. If they are not doing the job they were sent there to do, fire them.

Cicilline campaigning on the floor of the House. The LIAR has reached an all-time low. Absolutely despicable for a guy who votes as Pelosi tells him 96% of the time, is blaming someone besdies himself fornthe gridlock. What an atrocity.
Do notvrewrad this LIAR with a return trip to Washington. Rhode Island deserves better representation.

Leadership - did DC have to go to the dictionary to look this word up? His leader was to be the "Bi-partisan President" I would like to see the stats on cross over votes - could it be that on votes pushed by the Great Leader and Nancy Pelosi that many more Dems crossed over and voted with the other side than the reverse. Be interesting to see if President Obama was the bi-partisan President because he drove more Dems to vote with the Republicans in a bi-partisan way.

One definition of leadership involves making tough, unpopular decisions, without regard to the effect that they might have on one's political career, because they are the right things to do. has the Congressmistake EVER shown any ability to do that? Absolutely not. From keeping on an incompetent Chief of Police to lying about the Providence finances, he has always taken the easy way out. His Congress career has been the same. Never once has HE crossed the aisle. How dare he call on the other Party to do that?

Why is Sissylinie ever quoted on anything dealing with credibility? RI is that laughing stock of the US whenever this guy gets into print, just wondering how any reputable media outlet could possibly print whatever he has to say.
