NEW: Cicilline Announces Veteran as Guest for State of the Union

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) announced today that Adam Tumlinson, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, would attend the 2012 State of the Union address as his guest in Washington, D.C. Cicilline issued the following statement:

“Americans are fortunate to live in a free and safe society because of the heroic efforts, brave actions, and tremendous sacrifices of the individuals who serve in our Armed Forces. We owe our troops, veterans, and their families our utmost gratitude and respect, in addition to exceptional care and benefits, which they earned defending our great nation and our way of life. Our nation owes so much to the members of our military for their selfless sacrifices, and it is our responsibility to honor their generous acts of patriotism. I am honored to have Adam join me in Washington for the State of the Union next week. Although we can never fully repay veterans like Adam for their service to our country, they continue to inspire us through their selfless example.”
