Governor Lincoln Chafee will travel to Burlington, Vermont this Sunday to attend the 36th Conference of the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

The annual conference brings together the six New England Governors and their Eastern Canadian counterparts to discuss issues and priorities of relevance to both regions and promote closer economic ties.

The agenda of this year’s conference, “Energy and Transportation Opportunities for Economic Growth,” focuses on opportunities for building a clean and cost-effective energy future and advancing cross-border transportation systems.

The conference, which takes place July 29 – 30, will be hosted and co-chaired (with Premier Jean Charest of Québec) by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin.

Governor Chafee will return to Rhode Island on Monday.
