NEW: Central Falls Library In New York Times
Friday, September 30, 2011
Central Falls is back in the New York Times.
Former Providence Journal reporter Dan Barry had a piece published Friday about how the Adams Memorial Library has managed to re-open with limited hours despite the state-appointed receiver Robert Flanders’ decision to close it in a desperate attempt to save money earlier this summer.
Barry also promotes the $100-per-head fundraiser taking place at the library this evening.
Central Falls has been featured in countless nationwide publications since filing for bankruptcy in August. Flanders and Governor Chafee have since presented a five-year plan that they claim will balance the cash-strapped city’s budget by 2013.
