Solomon was accused of directing an employee to move thousands of dollars to a separate account without getting approval from the company’s board of directors.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin said he disagrees with Judge Daniel Procaccini’s decision.

“We respectfully disagree with Judge Procaccini’s decision to dismiss the case against Joe Solomon,” Kilmartin said. “As with all criminal cases prosecuted by this office, we believed there was enough credible evidence to bring forward criminal charges and proceed to trial. From the outset, this was a very complex and difficult investigation and criminal proceeding with significant hurdles to overcome. I commend the efforts of the Rhode Island State Police, especially that of Lt. Todd Catlow who led the investigation, and Assistant Attorney General Ron Gendron, who prosecuted the case on behalf of the State.”
