State Representative Jon Brien is charging the House Speaker with engaging in “revisionist history” by claiming that all the House members knew that $75M in funds added at the last minute to an Economic Development Corporation loan program bill was meant for 38 Studios.

Brien was a co-sponsor of the original EDC bill to create a smaller $50M loan program for local businesses, a bill which had languished in committee for 2 years only to be moved suddenly in April of 2010 when the Speaker needed it as a vehicle to provide $75M in loans to 38 Studios.

“Speaker Fox is engaging in the worst kind of revisionist history, making statements which go against the public record of what went on in the legislative debate on the EDC loans,” Brien said. “It’s the same kind of assault on the truth my opponent Stephen Casey has engaged in.”
