NEW: Board of Regents Seeking New Volunteers to Serve on school Boards of Trustees

The Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking volunteers to serve on four school Boards of Trustees.

At present, there are vacancies on all of the Boards of Trustees whose members the Regents appoint, including:

· the Central Falls School District board;

· the Metropolitan Career and Technical School (The Met) board;

· the Rhode Island School for the Deaf board; and

· the William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School board.

“We need these boards to be up and running,” said George D. Caruolo, Chairman of the Board of Regents. “The boards have an important impact on these institutions, and we need good, high-quality people who are willing to donate their time for this important work.”

The Regents are particularly in need of volunteers for the School for the Deaf board who have deafness or hearing impairment.

The Regents also note that membership on the Central Falls board is open to residents from other communities.

Those interested in volunteering to serve on any of the boards should e-mail [email protected], the liaison to the Board of Regents, with a cover letter and a resume or any other material the Regents should consider in making appointments to these boards.
