More Staff Shuffle for Raimondo, Another Former Elorza Staffer Named to a Top Post

David Ortiz, former communications director to Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and most recently held a similar for General Treasurer Seth Magaziner, is jumping to Governor Gina Raimondo's office and replacing Marie Aberger.
The press shuffle is part of a restructuring at Raimondo's office that has now seen two former Elorza officials — Brett Smiley and Ortiz — named to key roles. For Raimondo, who is now nearing the two year mark in her administration, the staff changes seem unending now.
Aberger is being reassigned.

Raimondo's tenure has been hit with controversies — Rep Don Lally appointment to her staff has been cited by the Ethics Commission, former Chief of Staff Neuman tied to a conflict with Draft Kings and his wife, and her proposed use of scholarship money at the URI Foundation for a trip to Davos, Switzerland all have raised serious questions.
But, the blunder of them all was the millions wasted on an ill fated tourism campaign — an embarrassment that went global.
