Langevin Wins in 2nd Congressional District
Wednesday, November 07, 2012
Congressman James Langevin has won a seventh term in the United States House of Representatives with a victory of Republican Michael Riley and Independent candidate Abel Collins.
Langevin's victory comes despite a redistricting shift that left the incumbent with a more conservative district than he's had in recent years. Riley was considered the most credible Republican challenger Langevin has ever faced and shelled out nearly 1 million of his own money for the race.
Collins garnered significant attention earlier this month when he was not included in a WPRI debate, but the Independent was never able to raise enough money to make the race competitive.
