Johnston Pension: See the Documents

Friday, December 03, 2010

Below are documents showing that a Johnston official worked for the town while collecting a state pension.

The first document is his 1998 consulting contract with the town, signed by former Mayor William Macera. The second is the letter the executive director of the Employees Retirement System of Rhode Island sent to Corrente letting him know that state law did not allow him to work full-time and collect his pension. Even though Corrente started working on a regular basis in 1998, the state retirement board did not reduce his pension benefits until the fall of 2001.
