House Passes Seatbelt Law

The Rhode Island House last night passed a law making failure to wear a seatbelt a primary offense.
A similar bill has already been approved in the Senate.
Current law makes failure to wear a seatbelt a secondary offense, meaning that drivers who aren’t will only be cited if they are stopped for a primary offense—running a red light or speeding.
