Henry Cisneros, former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Clinton Administration will deliver the keynote address at the Latino Dollars for Scholars of Rhode Island’s (LADO) 20th Anniversary Awards Gala.

The event will be held at the Providence Marriott on Saturday, January 11 at 6:00 PM.

“We are honored to have Secretary Cisneros join us to celebrate 20 years of expanding higher education for Latino students from Rhode Island” stated LADO RI President Tammy Vargas Warner.

Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and former Bank RI CEO Merrill Sherman will also attend the event as Honorary Co-Chairs of the 20th Anniversary Celebration.

According to President Warner, “this is a milestone year for our organization, we have committed to increasing the number of scholarships we provide for local students and it’s fitting to have the commitment and experience of community leaders such as Mayor Taveras and Ms. Sherman joining us in this effort.”

In the past 19 years LADO has raised over a quarter of a million dollars and provided over 300 scholarships to college students from Rhode Island.

Dinner and VIP tickets for the Gala are still available. For more information about LADO, the Anniversary Gala, and how you can help, visit: www.ladori.org.
