How Would You Grade Providence Schools?

  •     30 vote - D - Poor, Diminishing
  •     29 vote - F - Failing, Chaos
  •     24 vote - C - Fair, Stagnant
  •     9 vote - B - Good, Improving
  •     6 vote - A - Excellent, Well-Run

For the past 6 months, Providence Schools have been rocked by what seems like an endless series of controversies. All of the teachers were fired, schools are closed, the superintendent resigned, other schools have been targeted for having failed minimum standards, and now the chair of the school committee has resigned.

In a recent study conducted by GoLocalProv, one Providence high school - Mt. Pleasant was ranked the lowest of the 51 public schools in Rhode Island.

With labor discourse still raging, schools needing intervention, an interim leader, and now a void at the helm of the school board - what is the condition of the schools. Is this the beginning of overdue change that may spark improvement or just chaos?

What grade would you give the Providence Schools?

Angel Taveras inherited the ruins of David Cicilline's savage mismanagement of Providence public schools.

Now Cicilline's surrogates are being sent out to support his strategy of shifting blame to Taveras and away from himself.

These latest David Cicilline lies will backfire, of course. They will end up freeing Mayor Taveras from the Non-Aggression Pact with Cicilline -- which will represent the final nail in Cicilline's coffin.

Angel Taveras is to David Cicilline what Barack Obama is to George W. Bush -- the unfortunate successor who must deal with the criminal negligence and incompetence of his disgraced predecessor.
