Governor Makes Appointments to Coastal Resources Council

Gov. Don Carcieri has made four appointments to the Coastal Resources Management Council after a leading environmental organization, Save the Bay, warned that vacancies were impeding the council’s ability to do its work.

Those appointed were:

• Allen P. Durand, of Fiskeville, Business Manager/Financial Secretary for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
• Robert P Kermes, of Wakefield, President of Hannibal Development Company, LLC
• Neill Gray, of Newport, owner of Newport Mooring Service
• Judith M. Swift, of Kingston, Professor at the University of Rhode Island

“I am very pleased that these dedicated Rhode Islanders have agreed to serve in this important capacity. The Coastal Management Resources Council is essential to the preservation and management of critical assets of our state. I am very confident that they will perform their duties mindful of the needs of all Rhode Islanders now and for generation to come,” Carcieri said.
