GoLocal’s Attorney Dickinson Appeals to Gain Release of State Police 38 Studios Documents

On Thursday, former Assistant Attorney General Tom Dickinson, who is serving as GoLocalProv.com's legal counsel in the ongoing effort to gain release of the State Police interviews relating to the failed criminal investigation of 38 Studios, filed an appeal following the recent response to GoLocalProv's APRA request.

More than 30 elected officials and civic organizations have called for the release of the documents.

The Request. Petitioner’s request sought, pursuant to the Access to Public Records Act (APRA), R.I. Gen. L. 38-2-1 et seq., six specific categories of public records relative to the so-called 38 Studios Investigation. The items are set forth below:
1) Interview transcripts of the reported 100 plus individuals relating to the case;
2) Written or recorded statements of persons interviewed;
3) Notes by investigators of such interviews;
4) Recordings of such interviews (if interviews were recorded);
5) Correspondence between your Department and any witness or their counsel;
6) All materials collected during the investigation – financial documents, contracts, memos, letters, emails, and other related documents.
Notably, the request did not seek copies of grand jury transcripts or any other grand jury materials.
