Education Commissioner Deborah Gist has come together with four other chief state school officers to form Chiefs for Change.

Chiefs for Change is a bipartisan group of state education commissioners, committed to transforming education. It aims to establish a national network of experts driven to institute visionary education reforms. The organization is committed to recruiting, rewarding, and retaining excellent teachers and leaders, in order to improve education for students across the country. Although this is a national issue, chiefs for change believes reform starts at the local level.

“All of us – elected leaders, teachers and school leaders, leaders of teachers’ unions, parents, students, members of the business community, and community members – share the responsibility for transforming America’s schools,” Gist said.
