The Rhode Island Family Court commemorated the 7th Annual National Adoption Day on Saturday. To mark the occasion, the court finalized 18 adoptions with 16 different families.

“The theme of today’s celebration – “A Whole New World” couldn’t be more appropriate. ‘Shining, shimmering, and splendid’ is what today is all about. I am thrilled to share this truly special occasion with all of you,” said Acting Chief Judge Haiganush R. Bedrosian. “For the past seven years, National Adoption Day has been the happiest of all days here at the Family Court. Thanksgiving is a perfect time to give thanks for your love and commitment to the child – or children - you are adopting today. May your lives always be filled with the joy, thanks and love that you are feeling today. Congratulations!”

Over 225 people participated in the event, which was held at The Garrahy Judicial Complex.
