EDITORIAL: Clinton and Raimondo’s Secrecy Troubles
Wednesday, November 02, 2016
Absent her self-admitted mistake of using a private server for emails, Hillary Clinton might be up by 10-15 points over a deeply flawed Donald Trump. But, her mistake and then cover-up has now created a direct link to the computer of the perverted Anthony Weiner. According to polling, Americans simply don’t trust Clinton.
Clinton’s errors make the lack of trust an election wildcard. According to leading pollsters, the race is now tightening across the country and on Tuesday, the Washington Post tracking poll had Donald Trump ahead by 1 point.
Rhode Island Parallels

Raimondo’s decision to actively block the disclosure is as ponderous as Clinton’s decisions.
Raimondo has worked to stifle GoLocal’s request to release the public documents. Please note, GoLocal has not sough the release of the grand jury documents. Raimondo’s roadblocking of the release of the State Police records are even more disturbing and out of the norm, as the FBI released its interview documents with Secretary Clinton.
For Raimondo, who has publicly appeared to have little culpability in the 38 Studios scheme, her secrecy stance is at best misguided and at worse can be interpreted as a political decision to cover the tracks of wealthy, connected insiders.
For Raimondo, the decision could and should be simple — release the State Police interviews and notes and shine a little light on the 38 Studios mess once and for all. Allow Rhode Islanders to review and make a determination of the original deal and the investigation.
The Governor should stop complaining about Rhode Islanders' cynicism and start the process of restoring trust. It is a central issue in the national election, and it should be a priority to her here in Rhode Island.
