Trey Pinkerton's mugshot from his August arrest in which the city heralded his capture. Less than two months later, he was on the street and arrested again.
With much fanfare, Providence resident Trey Pinkerton was arrested and identified as a major cause of a recent spate of East Side break-ins this past August.
Since his arrest this summer, however, Pinkerton was released -- and tied to the recent Scituate break-in and police chase on October 6 that ended in North Providence and led to the arrest of six individuals including Pinkerton who was charged with possession of marijuana.
"He's currently being held at the ACI,' said State Police Lt. Colonel Todd Catlow confirmed on Sunday.

Pinkerton's string of arrests as an adult go back at least a year, when records show he was arrested in October 2014 on a first degree robbery charge and possession of marijuana and ordered to home confinement.
Previous Record Garnered "Gang Member" Label
Crime on the East Side of Providence over the summer -- and breaking and enterings in particular -- had prompted some residents to explore private security options.
On September 3, the Providence Police trumpeted the arrests of a number of individuals including an earlier arrest of Pinkerton, as having been tied to the recent East-Side break-ins.
Earlier this month Providence Police charged Trey Pinkerton, age 19, and Romelo Thompson, age 18, who were arrested after a brief car chase through the Valley neighborhood of the City. Pinkerton and Thompson were charged with one count each of breaking and entering and conspiracy in connection to a break-in that occurred on August 16 on Edison Avenue. Pinkerton is thought to be connected to a number of break-ins on the East Side in recent months.
"Our officers have been working vigilantly to ensure that the subjects responsible for these recent break-ins are apprehended," said Colonel Clements. "We hope that by taking these players off the street we will see a major decline in the number of breaks. We will continue to be vigilant in our response to crime throughout the City."
The Providence police acknowledged Pinkerton was a known gang member when he was arrested on August 18, for having a warrant out for his arrest for breaking and entering.
"It should be noted that Trey is a known gang member," noted the police in its release.
Pinkerton was back on the street on October 6 when he was arrested by the State Police following a statewide chase after a breaking-and-entering in Scituate which involved marijuana possession charges.
At 12:35 PM numerous Troopers and Officers from the Scituate, Johnston, North Providence and Providence Police Departments made the following arrests as the result of a breaking and entering which occurred in the Town of Scituate, followed by a motor vehicle pursuit and subsequent foot pursuits ending in North Providence.
Providence City Councilman Sam Zurier said on Monday that statistics were showing crime to be down on the East Side -- and that residents should take note.
"Over the past two months, the Providence Police Department has attended several community meetings, and has devoted additional resources to expanding its presence on the East Side," said Zurier in a statement. "According to the most recent (October 4) crime reports, burglaries in District 8 over the past month are down 36% from last year, and in District 9 over the same month, burglaries declined from 21 to 3, a drop of 86%. Overall property crime over the same period is down 24% in District 8 and 43% in District 9. These statistics indicate progress, which I hope that residents can understand and appreciate."
"The status of Mr. Pinkerton’s right to bail is based on applying criminal law principles to the particular facts of this situation," continued Zurier. "The Attorney General’s office, the attorneys involved and/or a criminal law expert have the proper information and expertise to evaluate the reasons for his status pending trial.
