Doherty Campaign Blasts Cicilline on Providence’s Finances

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

The Brendan Doherty campaign released an early morning statement blasting Congressman David Cicilline for his attempt to deny responsibility for his role in the financial devastation of the city of Providence.

In an appearance on a local radio station Tuesday, Cicilline attempted to deflect responsibility for the financial collapse of the capital city immediately following the end of his eight year term by laying blame on prior administrations.

"David Cicilline's record as Mayor of Providence is known to every Rhode Islander," stated Doherty Campaign Manager, Giovanni Cicione. "As Mayor of Providence, David Cicilline's record of fiscal irresponsibility contributed significantly to the economic devastation of the city of Providence and his continuing refusal to acknowledge his role in the administration of the city finances stretches the bounds of credibility, even for a Washington insider."

Cicione said Cicilline is “all talk.”

“Perhaps Cicilline should focus more on doing his job - proposing meaningful legislation to put Rhode Islander’s back to work - and less on holding onto power though the use of scare tactics, class warfare, and trite sound bites,” Cicione said. “Unfortunately, as we have come to learn, David Cicilline is all talk. We have seen what this has done to the City of Providence - Rhode Island can't afford a sequel on the national stage.”

" ... Rhode Island can't afford a sequel on the national stage.”

And yet Brendan Doherty represents just that -- another preening, posturing poseur who will "call for" this and "urge" that and offer shallow, uninformed, self-serving, pre-programmed responses to equally banal and destructive questions.

And all the while do NOTHING to lead us out of economic and educational ruin.

David Cicilline v. Brendan Doherty -- talk about a FALSE CHOICE!

Finally someone has spoken out about the Providence fiscal situation that Ciccillini has left the city from the last 8 years. Mayor Tavares won't say anything regarding this and its unfortunate because the people need to know the truth of what happened to all of the money. Grow a set and speak out regarding this; cut the political party covering for each other.

To Bob Stanley"

"Finally"???

Bullshit!!!

While Brendan Doherty was hiding behind his badge, abrogating his responsibility to bring Mayor David Cicilline to justice, ANTHONY GEMMA was going public, speaking truth to power as he charged David Cicilline with lying, malfeasance, incompetence, and a host of additional betrayals of the public trust.

Brendan Doherty may send out his surrogates to suggest the Doherty is the first to take David Cicilline to task for his perfidy.

But Anthony Gemma ALONE displayed the courage of his convictions when, during the last campaign, he boldly proclaimed, "Enough is enough!" and exposed David Cicilline for the dishonorable human being and professional failure that he is.

Brendan Doherty, dishonorable and disingenuous, is attempting to rewrite history.

He will fail.
