Doherty Campaign Blasts Cicilline on Providence’s Finances
Wednesday, February 22, 2012
The Brendan Doherty campaign released an early morning statement blasting Congressman David Cicilline for his attempt to deny responsibility for his role in the financial devastation of the city of Providence.
In an appearance on a local radio station Tuesday, Cicilline attempted to deflect responsibility for the financial collapse of the capital city immediately following the end of his eight year term by laying blame on prior administrations.
"David Cicilline's record as Mayor of Providence is known to every Rhode Islander," stated Doherty Campaign Manager, Giovanni Cicione. "As Mayor of Providence, David Cicilline's record of fiscal irresponsibility contributed significantly to the economic devastation of the city of Providence and his continuing refusal to acknowledge his role in the administration of the city finances stretches the bounds of credibility, even for a Washington insider."

“Perhaps Cicilline should focus more on doing his job - proposing meaningful legislation to put Rhode Islander’s back to work - and less on holding onto power though the use of scare tactics, class warfare, and trite sound bites,” Cicione said. “Unfortunately, as we have come to learn, David Cicilline is all talk. We have seen what this has done to the City of Providence - Rhode Island can't afford a sequel on the national stage.”
