Mini Crime Spree: Two Providence Employees Arrested, One Suspended

All unrelated issues, but Providence employees are getting in a lot of trouble this week and some for very serious crimes.

Providence Police records clerk Rosemary Garcia, 36, of Cranston, was arrested after she was caught using police information for personal reasons.

Garcia was charged with Access to a Computer for Fraudulent Purposes and Wrongful Conversion by an Officer or Municipal Employee.

Garcia was arrested on Wednesday and released on bail. She is scheduled to appear in 6th District Court on August 28.

The arrest follows an investigation by Providence Police detectives who suspected Garcia of wrongfully converting police department information and using it for personal purposes. 

Garcia has worked for the City since 2004. She has been suspended without pay.

The investigation is ongoing.

Teacher Charged

WPRI is reporting that "a Providence elementary school teacher has been charged with child molestation stemming from several complaints filed by parents of children in the school."

The teacher has bee identified at James Duffy, a gym teacher at Harry Kizirian Elementary School.

He was arraigned in District Court on five counts of child molestation.

State Senator Suspended from City Job

RI State Senator Ana Quezada, who was just elected in November was suspended from her day job with the Department of Inspections and Standards. She defeated former Senator Juan Pichardo. He has chaired the highly confidential Board of Licenses.
