City of Cranston Issues Parking Ban in Effect Thursday at Midnight

In anticipation of Friday’s snow storm, the City of Cranston has issued parking ban that will take effect at midnight on Thursday.
The parking ban will end at noon on Friday, March 10.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Rhode Island, projecting 4 to 7 inches of snow possible.
According to the service, the snow is expected to start after 3 a.m. and end before noon time on Friday.

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY AFTERNOON...
* LOCATIONS...Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts. This
includes the cities and towns of Taunton, Brockton, Plymouth,
Fall River, New Bedford, Mattapoisett, Foster, Smithfield,
Providence, Coventry, West Greenwich, East Greenwich, Warwick,
West Warwick, Bristol, Narragansett, Westerly, and Newport.
* HAZARD TYPES...Snow.
* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches. Given the
snow will be very banded some locations will receive 4 inches
while neighboring towns accumulate up to 7 inches.
* TIMING...Snow will develop after midnight, becoming heavy at
times toward daybreak into the morning. The snow will taper
off Friday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Snow covered roads will make for hazardous driving
conditions. Snowfall rates may approach 1 inch per hour for a
time during the Friday morning commute.
* VISIBILITIES...One quarter to one half mile at times.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. Be prepared to modify
travel plans should winter weather develop.
