CHART: RI’s High Schools, from #1 to #51

Monday, May 09, 2011

From #1 East Greenwich High School to #51 Mount Pleasant High School, you'll find every public, charter, and technical high school in Rhode Island*. Where does your school fall?

*Block Island School was unable to provide sufficient numbers of scores to be analyzed in 2011, which is why they are removed from the rankings.

I see it now, #30. Control-F didn't come up with it. Why are the rankings a web image instead of text data?

Tracey Minkin

Hi, this is Tracey Minkin, features editor at GoLocalProv and the editor of this package. Thanks for writing, here.
Here's your answer:
The technology of our site limits the effectiveness of text-data tables... it's just that simple. With a chart as large and robust as this, going to a web image allows us to make it easier to read and we want this for our users.
Fundamentally, we wanted this chart to be as useful as possible, and while I do agree that being able to "be in" the data would be great for readers, this currently gets sacrificed for readability.
Many thanks for the question, and please keep reading... and commenting!
