You can show all the charts you want, but as a long time resident of the Town of Lincoln, how about some "on the ground" footwork. Very simple question. Would you rather live in the #29 community, Lincoln, or the #28 community, West Warwick. Honestly.

Last year, according to your chart, Scituate had a "effective" tax rate of $12.21. This year, $32.00. Really? Did you forget that Scituate's property taxes are calculated based on 50% of the property's value? The 2011 residential rate is $32.73, which would "effectively" be $16.36.

Could you provide a link to the State of Rhode Island Municipal Finance Department of Revenue data? The newest I could find is from 2008 (where Scituate's effective rate is $11.76).

Very discouraging, even the top rated have poor education attainment. What are the kids to do in RI when the majority of them are not being educated to compete in today’s environment?
Are KIDS #1 in RI, looks like they are NOT.
So many cities/towns with so much redundancy, duplicated costs, political overhead, waste and misuse of tax dollars, kind of makes you feel like we are standing in quicksand.
The biggest problem is that the locals refute their ratings verse taking a proactive corrective action to identify the problems and correcting them.

Doug, I agree. You have towns like Lincoln, Johnston and North Providence, all rated in the high 20's and 30's, and then you have Providence at #3?????????????????????????

You find me ONE person (who isn't homeless) that would rather be in Providence than one of those three towns. This rating system has too much emphasis on night life. Remember, with night life....especially in Providence, comes crime, shootings and murders.
